Wake Forest, N.C. ? Sidney Lowe, former head men's basketball coach at North Carolina State University, was arrested Monday on charges that he failed to file state tax returns in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Lowe, who coached the Wolfpack from 2006-2011, is currently an assistant coach with the NBA's Utah Jazz. At the time of his departure from State, he was making $500,000 per year.
He maintains a home in Wake Forest.
The 53-year-old Lowe faces three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file a North Caroline Individual Income Tax Return and was placed under a $10,000 unsecured bond. A court appearance was scheduled for March 19.
A Jazz spokesperson told The Salt Lake Tribune Monday that the team is aware of the arrest but do not have any comment.
Lowe, a member of the 1983 national championship team at NC State, held an 86-78 overall career coaching record at his alma mater, including a 25-55 mark in the ACC. Lowe never topped the 20 wins mark and never earned more than six wins in the ACC or finished above ninth place in the league.

RE: Former NC State coach Lowe charged with failure to file taxes
He didn't get arrested for not paying he didn't file his taxes or that's what the headline reads.Wouldn't it be interesting to know how many other North Carolinians have failed to file income taxes? I wonder how many of them got arrested? Seems a little drastic. Don't they usually just make you pay an exorbitant penalty, interest, etc.

When my Mother died I failed to pay some obscure NC tax I knew nothing about. When they sent me the bill (I didn't get arrested) the interest was more than I owed.?

well he can join Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner as a tax cheat.RE: Former NC State coach Lowe charged with failure to file taxes
Another show of class from jgunn. I wish there was more UNC fans like you.How could somebody, who is probably fairly intelligent, with a high profile high salary position, think nobody would notice if you just did not file your taxes for years? How bizarre and stupid. Shows you how on top of things this state was under Bev. I bet though, based on several factors, including race, he will just get "small" fine and slap on the wrist.?
- Posted by WGCFVRemember that Lowe was in "school" under Jimmy V. You wanna talk about "no show classes"......V invented it. Lowe was named coach of the Pack only after taking several "online" classes to complete his degree. What hypocrisy!?
- Posted by TruthaboutStatefansThis goes back way before Jimmy V. I was in school at NCSU and had some athletes in my class who showed for class the first day, and I did not see them again until the last day. I never missed a class, I had to work at it to make a B and they ended up with the same grade.?

As for Lowe, it's a Sid problem, it has nothing to do with NC State. Looks like he'll have to pay now, just like the rest of us.?
