Well, this really is a buzz kill.
News is out that David Beckham will miss today?s high-profile contest at undefeated, untied Sporting Kanas City. ?Back spasms? are the culprit.
On the other hand, the Galaxy will probably get back Landon Donovan, who missed last week?s loss to Los Angeles. So, while the Galaxy midfield loses its deep-lying playmaker, it will be a little faster than it was in last week?s surprising 3-1 loss to New England.
ESPN-Los Angeles soccer blogger Scott French has more on the contest here. But any way you slice it, there?s a little less mustard and relish on the hot dog. And the Galaxy?s chances in this one just dipped a little more, still.
Expect Michael Stephens or Marcelo Sarvas to replace Beckham. Galaxy manager Bruce Arena had warned on Thursday that the former English captain was struggling and might not travel.
